Borussia Dortmund give Jadon Sancho transfer update amid Manchester United interest

Borussia Dortmund's head of football Sebastian Kehl says he expects Jadon Sancho to remain at the club next season.

Manchester United are keen to sign the England international this summer off the back of another sensational campaign in Germany.

Speculation over Sancho's future intensified earlier this week when the 20-year-old hit out at German football authorities over a fine he received for breaching lockdown rules to get his hair cut.

However, any hopes United had of this potentially hastening Sancho's Dortmund exit appear to be unfounded after Kehl said he expects the 20-year-old to remain in Westphalia into next season.

Kehl was specifically asked about rumours linking Sancho with Liverpool when he told Sky Germany what he expects to happen with the former Manchester City winger in the coming weeks and months.

Kehl said: "We had a few issues with Jadon in the last week, but we all cleared them up. He played a great game afterwards and does a good job. He is incredibly important.

"At the moment we continue to assume that he will play and stay at Borussia Dortmund next season.

"Regarding the rumours [around Liverpool], I can say that there is nothing to it."

Sancho has netted an impressive 22 goals in 41 appearances for Dortmund this season, including three since the Bundesliga returned in May.
