Borussia Dortmund chief drops biggest Julian Brandt transfer hint yet amid Arsenal 'discussions'

Borussia Dortmund Sporting Director Michael Zorc's stance on Julian Brandt links to Arsenal has softened.

Gunners technical director Edu has already revealed that signing an attacking midfielder is the club's main transfer mission in the January window as manager Mikel Arteta looks to address the lack of creativity within his squad.

And a number of creative midfielders have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium as a result.

This includes ex-Tottenham star Christian Eriksen who has been placed on the transfer list at Inter Milan, Norwich City's Emi Buendia, and Real Madrid's Isco - who could be available for a half-season loan.

Is William Saliba to Nice loan the right move?

Another name reportedly on the radar is Brandt.

According to Sport Bild reporter Christian Falk, as per the Daily Express, the Gunners' interest in the Germany international is genuine and the Arsenal players are already 'discussing' his potential arrival.

Amid the speculation, Zorc broke his silence on the matter over the weekend when he insisted there's been no contact from Arsenal in regards to signing Brandt.

"I read that too, I can't say more about it," Zorc told Sport 1. "No one has contacted us, there is nothing on the table - and not even in the fax machine.

"That's all I can say."

However, after Brandt was an unused substitute in Dortmund's 2-0 win over Wolfsburg on Sunday afternoon, Zorc is now refusing to rule out an exit for the 24-year-old this month.

"My years of activity have taught me that I don't rule anything out at the beginning of a transfer period," he said, as per Sport Bild.

The aforementioned report does state that Brandt being on the bench on Sunday has nothing to do with a possible transfer as Dortmund have no plans to let him go.

But are Zorc's comments a hint that the Bundesliga outfit could perform a u-turn in the coming weeks?

Meanwhile, football.london understands Arsenal are monitoring the situation of Buendia but have yet to make a formal offer for the Norwich midfielder who could be an alternative to Brandt as the creative spark the club needs.
