Borussia Dortmund chief details Jurgen Klopp contact ahead of Bundesliga return

Borussia Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke says Jurgen Klopp will be a keen observer when the Bundesliga returns to action this weekend.

Germany's top-flight will be the first major European league to resume in the wake of the coronavirus crisis, with the football authorities in England, Italy and Spain all hoping to follow suit in the coming weeks.

Klopp won two Bundesliga titles and reached the final of the Champions League with Dortmund, who entertain rivals Schalke in a derby clash on Saturday afternoon.

The Liverpool manager stands on the verge of picking up Liverpool's first top-flight title in 30 years when English football can resume, and Watzke says he'll be watching on at the weekend.

"Jurgen has texted me a few times that he will be watching TV at the weekend and everyone is happy that the game will start again," Watzke told DAZN, via Goal.com.

"In England in particular, clubs are clinging to the fact that the Premier League can also start again soon.

"We owe the fact that we are in such a position in Germany to the population, who behaved in such a disciplined manner. And the politicians who are very careful with the situation. That is the reason why Germany is one of the best countries in the world to have come through this crisis."

Watzke admitted that he feels nervous about the division's restart, which looks to be around a month quicker than other major leagues.

"I also feel a huge responsibility," he added.

"This feeling is bigger than ever, and that gives me a certain amount of tension.

"On the one hand, the sporting aspect is that we also achieve our goals. On the other hand, the question of whether we can meet the entire framework with all requirements and the security concept as we all imagine it and how it is necessary.

"This pressure is really huge."
