Borussia Dortmund chief delivers Julian Brandt update as Arsenal players discuss transfer

Borussia Dortmund Sporting Director Michael Zorc has broken his silence on rumours linking Julian Brandt with a move to Arsenal.

The Gunners have already confirmed one deal in the January transfer window with Sead Kolasinac's return to Schalke 04 - initially on loan - set to officially be completed on Monday.

Meanwhile, the likes of William Saliba, Sokratis, and Reiss Nelson could also depart either on loan or permanently before the window closes.

In terms of incomings, Arsenal technical director Edu has already revealed that signing an attacking midfielder is the club's main transfer mission as manager Mikel Arteta looks to address the lack of creativity within his squad.

The north London outfit were interested in Dominik Szoboszlai, as first reported by football.london, but have missed out on a deal for the Hungary international after he agreed a deal to join RB Leipzig.

With that said, there are still a number of creative midfielders being linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium.

This includes Christian Eriksen who has been placed on the transfer list at Inter Milan, Norwich City's Emi Buendia and Real Madrid's Isco - who could be available for a half-season loan.

Another name reportedly on the radar is that of Borussia Dortmund's Julian Brandt.

And according to Sport Bild reporter Christian Falk, as per the Daily Express, the Gunners' interest in the Germany international is genuine and the Arsenal players are already discussing his potential arrival.

However, the Dortmund Sporting Director has revealed that whilst he's read about rumours linking Brandt away from the Signal Iduna Park, he insists there's been no contact from Arsenal.

"I read that too, I can't say more about it," Zorc told Sport 1. "No one has contacted us, there is nothing on the table - and not even in the fax machine.

"That's all I can say."

Arteta discussed his side's transfer plans for January when speaking ahead of the game against West Brom.

"Well, we have a large squad. We knew that. A lot of things that should have happened in the summer we could not accomplish them for different reasons," Arteta said in his pre-match press conference. "There are a lot of players that are going to go on loan.

"They are going to leave. And that’s the priority at the moment because we cannot sustain the numbers that we have in certain positions. We are looking to do that. And then we will see if we have the right opportunities in the positions that we need some more help we are working with the club to try to address them."
