Borussia Dortmund chief asked how close Jadon Sancho came to joining Manchester United

Borussia Dortmund technical director Michael Zorc has reiterated the club's stance on Manchester United target Jadon Sancho insisting the England international is not for sale.

Sancho has been on United's radar for a couple of years with Jose Mourinho keen on signing the former Manchester City man before he made the move to Germany back in 2017 and as he continues to impress over in the Bundesliga he remained on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's target list this summer.

Zorc confirmed in an Amazon Prime documentary aired earlier this month there had been talks between United and Dortmund chiefs but that Sancho was not interested in leaving the club.

And the Dortmund chief was pushed again on United's interest ahead of Dortmund's goalless draw with Barcelona in the Champions League on Tuesday night as he was asked how close they were to losing the former City man this summer.

"Not close at all. We didn't talk to them. They were asking us for a meeting," Zorc told Viasport "Sancho is not for sale."

Borussia Dortmund's steep valuation of Sancho was always going to discourage United but the England international did not want to give up Champions League football and Zorc said earlier this year he was under the impression Sancho had no interest in leaving.

"According to what I know, the consultant told the club that no matter how much money they offer, we won’t let him go this summer," Zorc said on Amazon Prime documentary Inside Borussia Dortmund. "But the player also has no intention of taking that step this summer."
