Borussia Dortmund agree £25m deal for wonderkid linked with Chelsea and Man United

Jude Bellingham is close to finalising a move to Borussia Dortmund.

The 17-year-old has been linked previously with both Chelsea and Manchester United, but has reportedly travelled to Germany for a medical with the Bundesliga outfit ahead of his proposed transfer.

Sky Sports are reporting that Birmingham City will receive a fee for the midfielder, despite the fact Bellingham had not signed a professional contract at St Andrew's.

The most expensive Premier League transfers ever

The Championship side are set to pocket guaranteed £25m up front and "several millions more" depending on appearances, achievements and milestones.

This development will come as a blow to both Chelsea and Man United.

In March, football.london reported that the two clubs were set for a rivalry that would define the summer transfer window.

Not only were the two clubs set to go head-to-head for Bellingham's signature, but both clubs have also shown a keen intereest in Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho.

But following comments from ex-Birmingham boss Pep Clotet, a move to Germany for Bellingham was always the most likely option, with a Manchester switch a close second.

"I see him very focused on us and having a strong finish to the season," Clotet said last month. "I see nothing from him that makes me believe his head is not here. I think his head is here.

"I don’t know maybe in his free time he has been having some German classes or Manchester accent classes – I don’t know. But I think he looks very confident and comfortable in his situation.

"I can’t give any insight into his transfer situation because it is something related to next season so I never even asked."

It remains to be seen if Chelsea pursue a move for Sancho, but they've been told it will cost £116m in order to do so.

"Jadon has a valid contract with us and we would be very happy if he is still with us next season," Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc told Waz.

"To think about anything else at all, the timing would have to be right, and secondly, our price expectations would have to be met 100 per cent."
