Borris-Ileigh ready for Glen Rovers clash in Thurles next weekend says Paddy Stapleton

It's a quick turnaround for Borris-Ileigh after their county title win, with Glen Rovers coming to Thurles this Sunday.

Having bridged a 33-year gap, 2019 will go down as a memorable season no matter what happens though their predecessors turned that 1986 success into an All-Ireland club title in 1987, the last Tipperary club to manage the feat.

“Every time you go into Stapleton’s in Borris, you see the photo of the 1987 All-Ireland team,” said full-back Paddy Stapleton.

“I suppose it’s nice to have our own history. It mightn’t be what they have but certainly we’d only six county titles before this and to be the seventh team to ever win one feels class, feels unbelievable.

“When the monkey’s off your back, we can play with a bit of freedom this week. We know the pitch obviously and can play with abandon.”
