Borna Barisic 'wanted' by Steven Gerrard for Rangers reunion at Aston Villa in bid to fix problem position

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard will reportedly make a move for Borna Barisic in a bid to fill Aston Villa's problem position.

The Ibrox boss started Matt Targett in the 2-0 win over Brighton on Saturday but it's understood left-back will be a key area he seeks to improve in the Midlands.

And the Mirror believe a potential £8m move could be in the offing come January with the Croatia international previously earning admiring glances from the likes of Roma.

The 28-year-old hasn't been at his best this season but his expert delivery was a key factor behind Rangers' race to Premiership title glory last season.

Record Sport revealed last week that Glen Kamara is another who could be on the radar of Gerrard at Villa as he seeks to move his new club up the Premier League table.

Barisic is under contract at Ibrox until 2024 and the report states a significant fee would be needed to land the Croatia international when the window opens in January.
