Borna Barisic set for Rangers return as he jets out to Malmo for Champions League showdown

Filip Helander and Borna Barisic are both with the Rangers squad as they fly out to Sweden for their European showdown.

The Premiership champions face Malmo in the third qualifying round of the Champions League, and have a number of key players missing.

Glen Kamara, Kemar Roofe and Leon Balogun are all suspended after the stormy Europa League clash with Slavia Prague last season.

Midfielder Ryan Jack is still out after surgery, while Alfredo Morelos has not travelled with the squad after his mandatory quarantine since returning from South America.

However, there is good news for boss Steven Gerrard as two key men come back into the fold.

Both Barisic and Helander missed the opening day win over Livingston but have travelled with the rest of the Rangers squad for the Malmo match.

Getting the better of the Swedish champions over two legs would leave the Ibrox club just 180 minutes from the Champions League group stage, with Olympiacos or Ludogorets standing in their way.

Malmo will be no pushovers though, and Rangers fans will not need reminding of the last time the two sides met.

It came in the club's last Champions League outing, with the Swedes knocking out Ally McCoist's side in qualifying a decade ago.
