Borna Barisic 'monitored' by AC Milan and Roma as Rangers star attracts transfer interest

Borna Barisic is being watched by two of Europe's biggest clubs after his superb form for Rangers this season - according to a report.

Italian media outlet Calciomercato claim AC Milan and Roma are tracking the defender as they attempt to rebuild themselves as genuine Serie A title contenders.

The Rossoneri have just signed Zlatan Ibrahimovic as manager Stefano Pioli attempts to improve on a malaise that sees them sit in midtable while Roma are in the mix for a Champions League place sitting fourth.

The 26-year-old Croatian left-back has established himself as first choice for club and country after a brilliant run of form that has seen him accumulate 13 assists and two goals in 27 games.

He was pivotal in Rangers' victory at Celtic Park yesterday, providing two assists in a 2-1 win.

Barisic suffered a slow start to his Rangers career after arriving in August for £2.2m from Croatian side Osijek.

The player had impressed Steven Gerrard over two games in the Europa League after Rangers narrowly progressed past their dangerous oponnents.

The attack-minded player initially struggled to acclimatise to the unique physical and mental demands of being a Rangers player but has moved on to a new level this term.
