Boris says list of countries we can holiday in 'will not grow rapidly'

Boris Johnson has said that he does not expect new countries to be added to the quarantine-free green list “very rapidly”.

The Prime Minister told the Downing Street press conference: “There’s a very limited list as you know and we will certainly be making sure that people travelling abroad will be subject to all the tests and constraints to prevent the virus being reimported.

“That’s why it’s such a tiny list of countries and I don’t expect we will be adding to it very rapidly.”

Portugal, Gibraltar and Israel are among 12 countries and territories people in England can visit from May 17 without self-isolating on their return, the Department for Transport said.

The green list also consists of Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Brunei, Iceland and the Faroe Islands and the Falklands.

This is in addition to the remote territories of the Falklands, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands, Saint Helena, Ascension Island and Tristan da Cunha.
