Boris Johnson wants to blame anyone but himself as spotlight shines on his failings

Boris Johnson is looking for someone to blame.

If yesterday’s performance was anything to go by, he continues to believe the problem lies with everyone but himself.

At Prime Minister’s Questions he bluffed his way through a round of scrutiny with the usual casual regard for detail.

Commons Speaker Lindsay Hoyle doesn’t miss a beat. And he was very clear in telling the PM he’d been treating Parliament with contempt.

The theatrics came a day after the PM struggled to understand his own rules.

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, if pictures of Johnson’s dad are anything to go by.

Not one to avoid a glaring controversy, Johnson senior was pictured in a shop without a mask.

This is the man who has already appeared to ignore his son’s travel advice and his call to avoid pubs.

Johnson’s chief adviser Dominic Cummings has also shown, with his trip to Barnard Castle, a complete disregard for the rules.

No wonder the message from Downing Street is a mess.

The country faces unprecedented challenges from coronavirus.

What it needs is a Prime Minister capable of dealing with the demands of the job.

Boris Johnson cannot provide the leadership Britain needs. He is not up to the task.
