Boris Johnson visits Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Lighthouse lab in Scotland trip

Boris Johnson has been pictured visiting the Lighthouse testing lab in Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital as part of his trip to Scotland.

The Prime Minister arrived at Glasgow Airport earlier this morning and is rumoured to be heading east to an industrial area in Livingston where work has started on the 'mass production' of Covid-19 vaccines.

The Lighthouse lab, hosted by Glasgow University, tests samples from regional test centres where NHS staff and frontline workers with suspected covid are tested.

The lab opened April last year in collaboration with the Scottish Government as well as industry experts from the University of Dundee, BioAscent and the Cancer Research UK Beatson Institute.

Number 10 have been keeping tight-lipped on the remaining destinations Boris Johnson will visit throughout the the day and it's unclear at this stage whether or not the Lighthouse lab will be his only stop-off in Glasgow.
