Boris Johnson told to resign by Kilmarnock and Loudoun MP following court ruling

Kilmarnock and Loudoun's MP has told Boris Johnson to resign.

Alan Brown MP said that the Prime Minister's position was untenable after the Supreme Court ruled that suspending parliament was unlawful.

This morning, 11 judges unanimously concluded the prorogation of parliament for five weeks was deemed unlawful.

Alan Brown, MP for Kilmarnock and Loudoun, told the Kilmarnock Standard: "This is a historic judgement and it shows the depths Boris Johnson has reached – not only was the prorogation unlawful, but he lied to the Head of State, the Queen about his motives.

"His position is untenable and he should resign immediately. Of course we know he won’t as he is power hungry.

"However, how can we trust anything he says ever again?

"On hearing the news I immediately made arrangements to get back to Parliament.

"It means missing out on street surgery work I had planned but clearly I need to be back in Parliament to do my job.

"I will continue holding this UK Government to account and I look forward to submitting a raft of parliamentary questions they didn’t previously answer."
