Boris Johnson to marry fiancee Carrie Symonds at ceremony next summer

Boris Johnson is set to marry his fiancee, Carrie Symonds and have sent wedding invitations to family and friends for July 30, 2022.

The couple have been engaged since late 2019 but like many others had put their marriage plans on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic.

They have now sent save-the-date cards to family and friends although the venue and details of the wedding plans are secret.

This will be Johnson’s third marriage, it will be the first for Symonds.

Johnson, 55, and Symonds, 33, were the first unmarried couple to live in Downing Street when he moved in as Prime Minister in July 2019.

The Prime Minister reportedly proposed while on holiday on the Caribbean Island of Mustique.

The parliamentary standards commissioner, Kathryn Stone, has since announced she is investigating a possible breach of the MPs’ code of conduct over the funding of the 10-day holiday.

Their engagement, and news that Symonds was pregnant, was announced in February last year.

The same month, Johnson had formally divorced his estranged wife Marina Wheeler, with whom he has two daughters and two sons.

Johnson was also once married to Allegra Mostyn-Owen.

The couple’s son, Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas Johnson, was born in April 2020. The name Nicholas was a tribute to the two doctors who treated Johnson while he was in hospital with coronavirus.

It is not know where the wedding will take place although the prime minister’s offical residence in Buckinghamshire, Chequers, is tipped to host the event.

Johnson will only be the second Prime Minister to wed while in office. Lord Liverpool married Mary Chester in 1822.
