Boris Johnson summons first full Cabinet meeting since March - 'without masks'

Boris Johnson's cabinet will meet in person tomorrow for the first time in months - but they're 'not expected' to wear face coverings.

The Prime Minister chairs a weekly cabinet meeting - usually on a Tuesday morning.

It normally takes place in the cabinet room in Number 10

But since March these have taken place over video conferencing.

For the first in-person meeting since lockdown rules came into force, the meeting will move to a "large room" in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, just round the corner from the usual venue, Downing Street said.

Ministers will be expected to sit at least one metre apart, and hand sanitiser will be available as they enter the room.

Each attendee will be provided with their own glass and jug of water.

But during a regular briefing, the Prime Minister's Official spokesman said they were 'not expecting' ministers to wear face coverings.

But he said the Cabinet would follow all official advice on holding indoor meetings.

Asked if there would still be a 'dial-in' option for ministers who could not - or did not feel comfortable - attending in person, the Spokesman said he was "not aware of anyone" not planning to attend.

Current social distancing rules say face coverings should be worn 'where possible' if people are working in an indoor environment and it's not possible to keep two metres apart.

It comes after the government was set to announce full details of the law making it compulsory to wear face coverings in shops.

The new rules are expected to be published on Thursday - the day before they're due to come into force.
