Boris Johnson's Plan B announcement to have huge impact on Crystal Palace and Premier League

This story has been updated to reflect the recent news from the UK Government on December 12th.

The UK government have introduced stricter measures aimed at tackling coronavirus this winter.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson implemented 'Plan B' this week amid fears about the more transmissible Omicron variant of the disease. The PM has already brought back a requirement to wear masks in shops and on public transport.

One of the new rules implemented is the introduction of vaccine passports, with outdoor events that have more than 10,000 attendees all in close proximity to each other set to require Covid-19 certification for participants to enter or a negative LFT.

This will mean Crystal Palace fans will be required to produce proof of their vaccination status or negative test result to attend games at Selhurst Park this season, having made their long-awaited return to the stadium for their Premier League match against Brentford in August.

Restrictions could be in place for Palace's Premier League match against Southampton on Wednesday, December 15.
