Boris Johnson recreates iconic Love Actually doorstep scene in spoof campaign ad

The Conservatives Party launched a fresh campaign ad last night, that features the PM in a Love Actually inspired spoof video.

Entitled 'Brexit Actually', the clip features the PM on a woman's door step using written cards to encourage her to back the Tory Party.

The spoof campaign ad is the party's final election broadcast and parodies famous British rom-com Love Actually.

Through using written signs as 'Silent Night' plays in the background, the PM mimics the iconic doorstep scene between actors Andrew Lincoln and Keira Knightly from 2003.

Starting with a couple sat on a sofa watching a 'Vote Conservatives' ad on their TV, the doorbell rings.

Upon opening the door, Mr. Johnson can be seen standing there. When her boyfriend in the other room shouts "who is it?", he holds up a card that reads "say it's carol singers".

As the PM flips through the other cards, he warns that the General Election is "closer than you think".

General Elections: Where does each party stand on Brexit?

"With any luck, by next year we'll have Brexit done," He adds. "(if Parliament doesn’t block it again) and we can move on.

"But for now let me say, your vote has never been more important. The other guy could win.

"So you have to make a choice: between a working majority or another gridlocked hung Parliament arguing about Brexit."

The three minute-long clip ends with the PM addressing the camera directly before walking away, saying: "enough, enough - let’s get this done”.

The broadcast comes after Labour candidate for Tooting Rosena Allin-Khan launched her own campaign video on November 22, titled "Election Actually".

Less than half an hour after the PM's campaign was released, Dr Allin-Khan told her Twitter followers that the PM has used her idea.

She posted: "Boris Johnson has copied my ElectionActually video.

"Tanks. On. The. Lawn. Don't share his version in outrage - instead, share my original version.

"It's us versus Cummings, Johnson, Trump and Farage."

Meanwhile, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn also revealed his own campaign video on Monday evening.

In a video entitled "Mean Tweets with  Jeremy Corbyn ", the party leader reads out a variety of tweets about him in the style of popular US late-night chat host Jimmy Kimmel.

In the spoof video, Mr. Corbyn can be seen sitting by a fireplace, reading out critical tweets to do with him and his campaign.
