Boris Johnson protest in Glasgow planned by anti-racism group

An anti-Boris Johnson protest has been organised in Glasgow today.

Stand up to Racism Glasgow is inviting people to take part in a demonstration on the Buchanan steps in the city centre at 6pm.

They announced the protest following in the Westminster Parliament.

A post on the Stand up to Racism Facebook page , says they believe Johnson unfit to be Prime Minister following comments about Muslim women, black people and gay people.

The post read: "Boris Johnson is a racist, bigot and homophobe.

"He is not fit to represent a multicultural society. He has called Muslim women 'letter boxes', called black people 'piccaninnies' with 'watermelon smiles' and LGBT people 'bum boys'.

"We cannot have him as Prime Minister for the next 5 years.

"We call on other groups to join us and raise the many other reasons to oppose Johnson.

"Let's greet the first day of Johnson's new term with protests across the country."

Johnson's Conservative Party had trounced its main opponent, winning 364 seats to the Labour Party's 203.

In Scotland the majority of seats - 48 - were won by the SNP giving them 12 more MPs than in 2017.
