Boris Johnson predicted to announce month-long Lockdown 2 - likely details in full

A new Tier 4 is set to be imposed in England that will last a whole month until December 2, it is understood.

ITV reporter Robert Peston tweeted a series of restrictions he claims will begin one second past midnight on Thursday.

He outlined a series of measures he understands will be announced by Boris Johnson on Saturday night.

They included all pubs and restaurants closing, no mixing of people inside homes, and travel within the UK discouraged except for work purposes.

Mr Peston said: "And they are, In effect, a new “Tier 4” that will be imposed for a month initially to the whole of England.

"1) All pubs and restaurants to close, though takeaways...and deliveries will be permitted.

"2) All non-essential retail to close, though supermarkets won't have to follow the Welsh example of fencing off non-essential goods.

"3) There will be no mixing of people inside homes, except for childcare and other forms of support..."

"7) Courts, schools, and universities will remain open.

"8) Outdoor exercise and recreation will be encouraged.

"9) Private prayer will continue in places of worship, but not services."

It is claimed the regulations will be published on Tuesday before MPs vote on them on Wednesday.

The exit strategy from this lockdown would be that after December 2, different parts of the country would be governed by the existing tiers, depending on the how serious conditions are in each area, the report said.

Boris Johnson will address the nation this afternoon after plans for a second national lockdown were leaked.

The Prime Minster will hold a press conference at 6.30pm, and will be joined alongside chief medical officer for England Professor Chris Whitty and chief scientific adviser Sir Patrick Vallance.

It was understood that The Prime Minister met with his Chancellor  Rishi Sunak, Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster  Michael Gove  and Health Minister Matt Hancock for crunch talks on Friday.
