Boris Johnson has been branded a “liar of Trumpian proportions” ahead of his first head-to-head debate of the general election campaign with Jeremy Corbyn.
Shadow foreign secretary, Emily Thornberry, made the remark in response to an article detailing falsehoods made by the prime minister during the campaign so far, including a claim to be building 40 new hospitals.
It comes as a Conservative donor also called on the publication of a Commons report on alleged Russian interference in UK democracy, adding: “People and country should know about that”.
