European Commission vice-president Maros Sefcovic has welcomed a “change in tone” from Brexit Minister Lord Frost in the fourth round of talks held on Friday.
After EU and UK negotiators met in an attempt to break the deadlock over the contentious Northern Ireland protocol, Mr Sefcovic said: “I acknowledge and welcome the change in tone of discussion with David Frost today, and I hope this will lead to tangible results for the people in Northern Ireland.”
He also promised a “laser beam” focus on resolving issues around the transport of medicines.
But answering the final question of the press conference, Mr Sefcovic suggested not all the issues had been resolved, saying: “On the European court, on our side definitely nothing’s changed.”
Meanwhile, a Savanta ComRes poll has found that the majority of Britons want to reverse the decision of the 2016 referendum.
A total of 53 per cent of people supported rejoining the bloc, including one in ten Leave voters and one in five Tory supporters, according to the survey.
