The doctors Boris Johnson and Carrie Symonds named their baby son after are both experts in infectious diseases and ventilation.
It was revealed this morning the couple had named their baby Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas Johnson.
Nicholas is in tribute to two doctors – conveniently both named Nick – who treated the Prime Minister when he was admitted to intensive care at St Thomas’ hospital in London.
Carrie Symonds said both doctors “saved his life” when she revealed the name on her Instagram this morning.
Dr Nicholas Price is a consultant in infectious diseases and general medicine, according to the Guys and St Thomas’ NHS trust website, with further expertise in prevention and control.
Professor Nicholas Hart is the director of the Lane Fox Respiratory Service at the Guys and St Thomas’ trust, and professor of respiratory and critical care medicine at King’s College London.
He has expertise in rehabilitation and home mechanical ventilation with chronic respiratory failure, according to his profile.

In response NHS London said: “ We are proud of the tributes made by Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Carrie Symonds to the dedicated staff in London's NHS.
"We wish the family all the best."
Baby Wilfred was born on Wednesday morning at NHS hospital in London.
Ms Symonds, 32, had previously said that the baby was due in the early summer, leading to the belief that the due date was in June.
A spokeswoman for the couple said the "healthy" baby boy was born at an NHS hospital in London. Both mother and baby were said to be "doing very well"
