Boris Johnson mocks Alex Salmond's Alba party over dismal Scottish Parliament results

Boris Johnson has mocked Alex Salmond's Alba part y over its results at the recent Scottish Parliament election.

The Prime Minister took a swipe at the newly-formed party in the House of Commons earlier today after a question from Alba party MP Kenny MacAskill.

Despite a high profile campaign the former First Minister 's party, which aimed to create a 'super-majority' for independence in the Scottish Parliament, failed to win a single seat.

Elected representatives from the SNP defected to Salmond 's party over the course of the Holyrood election campaign.

Alba failed to register more than two per cent of the vote in any of the eight regional lists they contested.

"In no other legal jurisdiction in the UK, or indeed in the Western world, is the government senior legal advisors simultaneously the country's chief prosecutor.

"The rule as enshrined in the Scotland Act 1988.

"Will the Prime Minister commit to changes so this historical anachronism can be changed and a separation of powers be achieved."
