The Prime Minister is reported to be planning an early General Election - a chance for everyone in the UK to go to the polls and have their say on his Government's Covid response and recovery plan.
The next election was set for some point before the end of 2024.
But MPs have started plans to scrap the law fixing a General Election every five years - partially in a bid to bring the date much further forward.
As part of his Cabinet reshuffle yesterday, Mr Johnson moved Oliver Dowden from the role of Culture Secretary to the role of co-chairman of the Conservative Party.
According to The Telegraph his key mission is to get the party ready for an election.
Mr Dowden told MPs: “It’s time to go to our offices and prepare for the next election.”
The Telegraph says the election could now be held as early as May 2023 - 20 months away.
According to the Guardian the reshuffle has 'laid the groundwork for a General Election and says it could be 'potentially sooner' than the planned 2024.
Two days ago MPs voted to approve the Dissolution and Calling of Parliament Bill. That scraps the laws from 2011 which fix the length of each Parliament to five years.
If the House of Lords approves the new bill, that will mean the Fixed Term Parliamentary Bill will be repealed, giving the Prime Minister the power to decide when to hold the next General Election.
Sinead Wilson of the BBC said: "The ability to control the timing of a general election empowers an incumbent government, not least because they can choose a date they believe most favourable to their re-election."
