Boris Johnson 'hides in fridge' to avoid answering questions on last campaign day

Appearing live on Good Morning Britain, Prime Minister Boris Johnson dodged questions from a reporter by hiding in a fridge.

The PM is currently in Leeds for the last day of the general election campaign, where he joined an early morning milk round.

During the live show, one of Johnson’s aides is seen swearing as GMB reporter Jonathan Swain approaches the group.

Swain asks the PM if he will come on the programme to ‘deliver on his promise’ of talking to Piers and Susanna.

Swain said: “I'm actually being pushed and shoved at the moment as well by one of the minders.”

Presenters Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid were left in shock after the PM dodged Swain, with Piers saying: “You’re not getting near Boris!”

Swain then asked the minder, who is named on GMB as Robert Oxley, to ‘tone his language down’ during the live segment.

Tory sources say that Oxley was not swearing at the report, and instead was just expressing frustration.

Following the incident, Piers directly appealed to Johnson, saying: "I've known you for 25 years. What's the matter with you?

“You're a good bloke normally, you have no problem with interviews, you bluster your way through them.

"Why would you rather look like a bottle job?"
