Boris Johnson goes full Alan Partridge by driving donor's digger through a wall

Boris Johnson went full Alan Partridge on the campaign trail today by driving a digger through a fake wall.

On a visit to a JCB factory in Stafford, the Tory Leader drove vehicle emblazoned with Union Flags through a white wall with 'gridlock' written on it.

It's a reference to the supposed gridlock in Parliament that stopped Mr Johnson getting his Brexit deal through.

Much like Mr Johnson’s supposed gridlock the wall was not real and was in fact made of white polystyrene bricks.

In fact, Mr Johnson pulled it later the same day after MPs refused to allow him to push it through with only three days' scrutiny.

The digger's bucket read 'Get Brexit Done'

The Tory battle bus was parked inside the very new, very large JCB plant.

JCB's owner Lord Anthony Bamford personally bankrolled Boris Johnson's leadership campaign.

JCB boss Anthony Bamford’s family is worth £4.15bn according to the Sunday Times Rich List - making them the 33rd-richest people in the UK.

Lord Bamford, knighted in 1990, has given millions to the Conservative Party personally and through his network of companies.

JC Bamford Excavators, where he is a director, has given £1.2m in cash donations to Tory HQ and candidates since the start of 2017.

And Lord Bamford gave £80,000 to Boris Johnson personally before, during and after the Tory leadership race between May and August 2019.
