Several papers report today that after EastEnders matriarch Peggy Mitchell stands as a local councillor, the mayor drops in to the Queen Vic in a scene that will air in the autumn. Johnson said: "EastEnders is a true London icon. I was delighted to highlight to its huge audience the part the mayoralty plays in the city's rich tapestry."
