Boris Johnson confirms plan for 24/7 vaccination centres

Boris Johnson has confirmed plans to offer 24-hour vaccinations to the public "as soon as we can".

The Prime Minister told MPs that Health Secretary Matt Hancock would be setting out the plans in "due course".

Opening PMQs, Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer said: "I welcome news that has come out this morning about a pilot of 24/7 vaccine centres - I anticipate there is going to be huge clamour for this.

"So, can the Prime Minister tell us when will the 24/7 vaccine centres be open to the public, because I understand they are not at the moment, and when will they be rolled out across the country?"

The Prime Minister replied: "I can tell (Sir Keir) that we'll be going to 24/7 as soon as we can and (Matt Hancock) will be setting out more about that in due course.

"As he rightly says, at the moment the limit is on supply."

Earlier today Mr Hancock confirmed on Good Morning Britain that the government were looking at 24/7 vaccination.

Piers Morgan quizzed the Health Secretary as to why the government weren't offering 24/7 vaccinations for shift workers such as doctors.

And Mr Hancock confirmed the government were "up for that" if it would speed up delivery of the vaccine.

He said: "Most people would prefer to be vaccinated in the day and most vaccinators would prefer to work in the day.

"But I don't rule that out, if that's the easiest way to get it to them then yes."
