Boris Johnson has cancelled a stump speech in Rochester at the last minute due to "logistical reasons".

The Prime Minister was set to address Tory supporters near the Ye Arrow pub on Friday afternoon.

A small number of protesters arrived holding signs which read "Tories out", "Austerity killed over 130,000, the blood is on your hands" and "No to racism, no to Boris Johnson".

A spokesman for the Conservative Party said the speech had been cancelled for logistical reasons.

It comes just six days ahead of the general election and as an exclusive poll today showed the race for No 10 has tightened .

The state of the election, with just six days left of campaigning, has the Conservatives on 44 per cent (unchanged since two weeks ago).

It also showed Labour on 32 per cent (up four points from 28), the Liberal Democrats squeezed to 13 (down three) and the Brexit Party on two per cent (down one).
