Boris Johnson has won £1million donations from fat-cat backers.
Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn says he fears the new Prime Minister has been “captured” by his wealthy donors.
He says Labour will ban donations or loans to political parties from non-doms and “people who are not registered for tax in the UK”.
He said: “ Boris Johnson and the Conservative party are captured by big donors corrupting democracy.”
Britons living in tax havens and their companies have made £5.5million of political donations since 2009.
Labour’s research shows donors backing Mr Johnson include hedge fund manager Crispin Odey, who pledged £10,000 two months ago.
Mr Odey has won £220million on betting that markets would collapse with a vote to leave the EU.
Labour MP Ian Murray said: “It’s a disgrace to democracy that Johnson is happy to take money from a man who is betting against the country.”
Mr Johnson also got £100,000 from Jonathan Moynihan, chairman of a venture capital firm.
He also gave more than £100,000 to Vote Leave.
Electoral Commission data and entries in the Register of Members’ Interests show Mr Johnson has made £953,056.47 from hedge funds and bankers in donations and income.
Contributions to Mr Johnson or Tory associations in his seats of Henley and Uxbridge make up £730,000, with the rest from speeches to banks in Europe and the US.
