Boris Johnson booed at French embassy after Brexit speech

The Foreign Secretary has been booed outside the French embassy after giving a speech about Britain's future relationship with the country.

In a speech outside the West London venue Boris Johnson called for a "a political, cultural, psychological, and economic union" with France – despite having just campaigned to leave the EU.

Mr Johnson appears to have been poorly received by crowds gathered outside, with only a smattering of applause.

A video of the event shows him also being audibly booed and jeered after he concluded his speech.

The incident occurred before Thursday's attacks in Nice had taken place.

Mr Johnson was appointed Foreign Secretary by Theresa May on Wednesday evening, immediately after she became Prime Minister.
