Boris Johnson has filmed a local election campaign video while appearing not to be wearing a seatbelt in a moving car.
It seems to be a repeat of events in January when Rishi Sunak was fined after posting a promo video for levelling-up funding showing him not wearing a seatbelt.
Mocking the two Tories, Labour asked whether there was a "competition" on who could receive the most fines after the pair both received fixed penalty notices for breaking lockdown rules at No10 parties.
In the fresh clip of Mr Johnson, in which no seatbelt can be seen over his shoulder, the ex-PM encourages Derbyshire Conservatives to get out to the polls as he rants about how people voting for his party were "the facts of life".
It is unclear whether Mr Johnson was in Derbyshire when the clip was filmed making it difficult for police to know which force should investigate.
Derbyshire Constabulary said it had been trying to determine whether the video was filmed in their area.
A spokesman added: "The force was not notified of any visit by Boris Johnson to Derbyshire yesterday – and we have no information to suggest that this was taken while in the county."
It is not the first time Mr Johnson has been spotted not following car safety laws.
He was spotted driving his Toyota Previa near his home in north London in 2015 when he was London mayor as he casually drove with his hand out of the window and without his belt fastened.
Wearing a seat belt is a legal requirement for all drivers and passengers. Fixed penalty notices for seat belt offences are usually £100, but they can rise to £500 if taken to court.
When the location of Mr Johnson's latest video is confirmed, it is expected the necessary police force will look into what appears to be a blatant flouting of the law.
Mr Johnson became the first PM in history to have been found to have broken the law in office when he was fined over Partygate.
He received a fixed penalty notice in April last year for attending a lockdown-busting gathering in No10 to celebrate his 56th birthday in 2020.
Mr Sunak was fined for the same party which he attended when he was chancellor in Mr Johnson's cabinet.
In January, Mr Sunak received a second fine within less than a year for not wearing a seatbelt.
Downing Street said the PM would pay the fine and “fully accepts this was a mistake and has apologised”.
It was an embarrassing moment for Mr Sunak, who had pledged a premiership with "integrity, professionalism and accountability at every level".
Lib Dem Cabinet Office spokeswoman Christine Jardine said: “This looks like yet another high-level Conservative ignoring the law by not wearing his seatbelt.
“If confirmed, this would be just further proof that Johnson and Sunak are cut from the same cloth. Every time it's one rule for the Conservatives and one for everybody else. The police should investigate this potential breach of the law immediately.”
A Labour source said: “Are Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak having a competition to see who can get the most fixed penalty notices?”
Boris Johnson's spokesman could not be reached for comment.
