Boris Johnson and wife Carrie expecting second child, it has been announced

Boris Johnson's wife Carrie has revealed she is expecting a second child.

In an Instagram post, Mrs Johnson, 33, said she is expecting a December birth.

And she also revealed she suffered a miscarriage at the beginning of the year, which left her "heartbroken", reports The Mirror.

She wrote: "Hoping for our rainbow baby this Christmas. At the beginning of the year, I had a miscarriage which left me heartbroken.

"I feel incredibly blessed to be pregnant again but I've also felt like a bag of nerves.

"Fertility issues can be really hard for many people, particularly when on platforms like Instagram it can look like everything is only ever going well.

"I found it a real comfort to hear from people who had also experienced loss so I hope that in some small way sharing this might help others, too."

Boris and Carrie welcomed their first baby, Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas Johnson, at the end of April 2020.

They chose Nicholas as a tribute to the doctor who treated the Prime Minister in intensive care as he battled Covid.

The announcement comes two months after the couple secretly married in Westminster Cathedral on May 29, 2021.
