Boris Johnson and the new Prime Minister Liz Truss flew separately on private planes to see the Queen. The former Prime Minister left RAF Northolt with wife Carrie after giving a a farewell speech outside 10 Downing Street.
It has emerged that Liz Truss also flew to the historic meeting with the Queen at Balmoral, but on a separate plane. The new Prime Minister was delayed on her flight to Scotland as heavy fog disrupts flights coming into land at Aberdeen Airport.
Meanwhile, Mr Johnson landed at the airport after just 59 minutes despite thick mist setting in around the airport. Truss's flight however was forced to circle nearby as she was delayed by almost half an hour due to the thick fog.

Both Johnson and Truss are due to meet the Queen for a handover of power this afternoon, with the drive from the airport expected to take around an hour in good traffic.
Mr Johnson was due to meet the Queen at 11.30, while Ms Truss was due for a meeting at 12.10pm. Truss is due to speak at Westminster later this afternoon at around 4pm, with the delayed flight likely to cause disruption to the new PM's schedule.

Derek Brennan said: "So climate change isn't that much of an emergency then. 2 planes!!!!"
The estimated carbon footprint of a flight from London Heathrow to Aberdeen International Airport is around 196 kg of carbon dioxide, compared to a train that would be around 29.5 kg.
It has been reported that they took separate planes for "security reasons".
But Matt Finch. UK director of the Transport and Environment Network told the Independent: “Flying on a private jet is probably the worst thing that the new PM can do for the environment, and is especially poor form on her first day."
