Boris Johnson and Carrie Symonds married in a secret ceremony this morning, reports say

Boris Johnson and girlfriend Carrie Symonds were married in a secret ceremony on Saturday morning, reports say.

The Prime Minister and Ms Symonds exchanged vows at Westminster Catholic Cathedral in London, according to the Mail on Sunday.

The couple engaged in December 2019 and have a child Wilfred, aged one.

They sent out save-the-date cards to guests telling them to keep Saturday, July 30, 2022 free for a marriage celebration just six days ago.

Due to Covid regulations just 30 guests were in attendance, the Sun reports.

Mr Johnson is the first Prime Minister to marry in office since Lord Liverpool married Mary Chester in 1822.

It's the Prime Minister's third marriage.

He first married aged 23 to Allegra Mostyn-Owen, whom he met while the pair were students at Oxford, in 1987.

The marriage was annulled in 1993 after it emerged he was having an affair with childhood friend Marina Wheeler.

Mr Johnson and Ms Wheeler married in 1993, but separated in 2018.

The couple had four children together.

Mr Johnson also has a child with art consultant Helen Macintyre.

Ms Symonds is a a former Conservative Party communications chief and worked with Mr Johnson while he was Mayor of London.
