Boris Johnson and Carrie Symonds expecting second baby after miscarriage 'heartbreak'

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his wife Carrie Symonds are expecting their second child after enduring a miscarriage earlier this year.

Carrie, 33, shared their news on social media on Saturday.

The Tory leader's wife revealed she and Johnson, 57, are expecting their new arrival in December.

Carrie also revealed she suffered a miscarriage at the beginning on 2021 which left her 'heartbroken', the Mirror reports.

She wrote on Instagram: "I feel incredibly blessed to be pregnant again but I've also felt like a bag of nerves.

"Fertility issues can be really hard for many people, particularly when on platforms like Instagram it can look like everything is only ever going well.

"I found it a real comfort to hear from people who had also experience loss so I hope that in some small way sharing this might help others, too."

In late 2019 the couple announced their engagement and that Carrie was pregnant.

Their son, Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas Johnson, was born on April 29, 2020 during the UK's first lockdown of the pandemic.

As the UK continued to fight against the deadly coronavirus pandemic, the pair married in a secret ceremony at Westminster Cathedral as 30 guests looked on.

Johnson became the first PM to get hitched while in office since Lord Liverpool married Mary chester in 1822.

The new arrival in December will bring Boris' brood of offspring to a reported seven, with children from previous relationships.
