Boris Johnson aide swears on live TV while Prime Minister delivers milk in Leeds

Boris Johnson's aide had a morning to forget when he swore on live TV while the Prime Minister was delivering milk in Leeds.

Mr Johnson paid a visit to Yeadon, in to do the early morning milk round and speak to voters, as part of a whistle-stop tour of key seats in the run up to Thursday's General Election.

His Tory colleague Stuart Andrew was re-elected as Pudsey's MP after winning by the narrow margin of 331 votes in 2017 and he recently admitted that the Conservatives are "always up against it" there.

During the visit, the Tory leader was approached by Good Morning Britain reporter Johnathan Swain, who asked: "Will you come on Good Morning Britain Prime Minister?"

One of Mr Johnson's aides, who has been named as press secretary Robert Oxley, was heard saying "oh for f***'s sake" as the reporter approached and the ITV show's hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid exclaimed loudly in shock as they watched live from the studio.

The reporter then asked "could you talk to Piers and Susanna for me?" and Mr Johnson said "I'll be with you in a second" before he walked into a large refrigerator unit.

Piers tweeted following the incident: "cowardice is never a good look."

After his brief visit to Pudsey, the Prime Minister travelled down to the Midlands but his battle bus was halted by a group of Extinction Rebellion protesters outside a JCB factory in Staffordshire.

During this election campaign, the Prime Minister has been accused of avoiding interviews with top broadcasters, including the BBC's Andrew Neil.

And earlier this week, ITV News correspondent Joe Pike made the Prime Minister look at the photograph of a sick four-year-old boy lying on the floor, waiting for treatment, at Leeds General Infirmary.

After pocketing the phone, he was eventually persuaded to look at the photograph and said: ""It's a terrible, terrible photo and I apologise obviously to the family and all those who have terrible experiences in the NHS.

"What we are doing is supporting the NHS and on the whole I think patients in the NHS have a much, much better experience than this poor kid has had."
