Boris Johnson aide delivers F-bomb live on TV to GMB reporter who asked for an interview with the PM

It’s no secret that Good Morning Britain has been after an interview with Boris Johnson for months - and today they got a four-letter reply from his press secretary.

Despite countless attempts to contact the prime minister, hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid are yet to have the opportunity to grill the Conservative Party leader ahead of Thursday's general election.

After being effectively ghosted by Number 10, the ITV show took matters into their own hands today and ambushed him during his election trail in Yorkshire.

GMB reporter Jonathan Swain, who was on location for the show, approached the PM - who was pretending to be a milkman for the day - and asked him directly for a chat.

He enquires, live on air: “Good morning Prime Minister, will you come on Good Morning Britain, Prime Minister?”

Boris’ press secretary Robert Oxley could then be heard saying 'oh for f***'s sake', with Piers and Susanna sat open mouthed in shock in the studio via a link up.

Mr Swain told viewers: “I’ve just had a reaction here from one of the minders.”

"The look on his face,” Susanna replied.

Jonathan tried again, but Mr Johnson - carrying a crate of orange juice - retreated into a fridge.

Tory sources told the Mirror Online that Mr Oxley was not swearing at the reporter and was expressing general frustration.

According to the publication the party is also believed to be making a formal complaint.

ITV’s reporter Swain said he later got an 'absolute earful'.

Piers took to Twitter to speak of his frustration, saying: “Cowardice is never a good look...”
