Borgue artist Brenda Burkitt welcomes textile artists from America and Canada

Eight American and Canadian textile artists arrived in the Stewartry recently to visit Brenda Burkitt working from her studio in Borgue.

The leader of the group is from Tacoma, Washington DC, three are from the Pacific Northwest of the US and the remainder from Vancouver and Ontario, Canada. The interests of the group run the gamut from quilting, contemporary textile art and embroidery, weaving, knitting, dyeing and eco printing.

The group had seen Brenda’s work and wanted to learn about her membership of Edge Textile Artists Scotland. They also wanted to know what inspires her ideas and the studio environment where she produces her artwork. Prior to visiting Borgue the group visited Lizzie Farey at her studio in Kirkcudbright.
