Perth Scorchers' import Tymal Mills won't be able to back up a career-best Big Bash League showing in his side's next home match because of Western Australia's hardline border stance.
The 29-year-old quick took 3-23 from four overs - his best BBL figures - in Perth's 53-run win over the Hobart Hurricanes on Tuesday night.
It was Mills first appearance for the undefeated Scorchers, coming after a Twenty20 World Cup campaign for England that was cut short due to injury.
Mills, who arrived in Australia a week ago, said he won't travel with the Scorchers to Perth for their return match against Hobart at Optus Stadium on December 20.
"It's all a bit complicated. I got held at the border (in Hobart) as well because I didn't have the right pass or something," he said.
"It's all very different to how things are in the UK at the moment.
"I'm not allowed to travel over with the guys to WA unfortunately, which is a shame because I would have loved to play at Optus Stadium."
The Scorchers then play in Melbourne, meaning a return to Perth for further games seems unlikely given the WA government's border stance on entry from virus-hit locations.
Mills said he would spend some extra time in Tasmania and rendezvous with the team in Melbourne.
He indicated he is determined to put his best foot forward in Australia after finishing with just eight wickets from 10 matches in his last tilt in the BBL for the Hurricanes in 2017/18.
"I definitely want to right those wrongs but it's only one game," he said.
"There's still plenty more to go. I'm not going to think I've cracked it ... T20 cricket is a very fickle game."
Perth's third win from as many matches was set up by a stunning unbeaten 100 from 60 balls by the in-form Mitch Marsh.
The allrounder starred for Australia in their victory over New Zealand in the Twenty20 World Cup final and whacked 60 from just 27 balls in a recent tour game against England A.
"It was pretty special," Mills said of Marsh's highest T20 score and maiden century in the format.
"He's coming into it in great nick, we obviously saw that in the World Cup."
