'Borderline cruel' – Nottingham Forest fans question defender's inclusion after Swansea defeat

Tobias Figueiredo bore the brunt of the criticism from Nottingham Forest fans after their 1-0 defeat to Swansea.

A third successive defeat for Forest, and a third game without finding the net, has seen supporters’ worries over relegation exacerbate.

Forest created a couple of chances through Lyle Taylor and Anthony Knockaert in the first half-hour, but after going behind to Connor Roberts’ header on the stroke of half-time, Chris Hughton’s side did not really look like getting even a point.

But despite the lack of goals, it was Figueiredo that came in for the most criticism after his display at the back.

Here’s what fans said:

@andrewbrookes84: “Figs will get hammered but he just needs putting out of his misery. Chucking him there in this form is borderline cruel. He’s also far from the only one. Has Arter forgotten how to pass a ball?”

@tomopurcell: “What has Mighten got to do to get a chance? And what has Figs got to do to get dropped?! So sad to see how bad we’ve become.”

@Sow_Society: “It’s games like this from Figueiredo that make me wonder why we ever sold Benalouane.”

@anthonycockayne: “I think Figueiredo’s performance is possibly the worst I’ve ever seen in a Forest shirt.”

@nikkifisher86: “We look shockingly poor. Zero organisation, zero partnerships within the side, severe lack of desire. League One football awaits.”

@NFFCWoodz: “Even the commentators are seeing how bad Figs is man, why can't Chris?”

@ReissNFFC: “This second-half performance has been disgraceful, not even tested the keeper. We are so poor, no desire, effort, literally so slow. Heading towards a relegation battle, Swansea haven’t broke sweat to keep us at arms length, same as Bournemouth midweek.”

@NottinghamGupta: “This squad doesn't have the bottle for a relegation fight. If we get dragged into one then we're in serious trouble.”

@ryannffc96: “McKenna and Taylor are the only positives to come out of that game. The rest of them are useless.”

@95redss: “I try to avoid manager bashing usually but Hughton has had absolutely no impact whatsoever in his first 10 games.”

@m_braithwaite23: “Is there a Tier 4 which means fans don’t have to watch the games on the telly?”

@Clarkey_No1: “Absolutely nothing game, 0-0 all over and once again we've lost through our own stupid mistakes. Improved performance for 40 minutes but we're firmly in a relegation battle.”
