Borderland movie filming in Glasgow from this week with 'chase stunts' planned for city centre

Production has started on big-budget movie Borderland in Glasgow days after filming wrapped on superhero flick Batgirl.

Starring Star Wars' Felicity Jones and a yet-to-be named fellow big star, the 1970s set thriller is billed as a 'vengeance-fuelled chase movie', and is based on a true crime book 'The Road to Balcombe Street' about an IRA unit placed in deep cover in London.

Filming got underway this week in the area around Somerset Place and Elderslie Street in the Kelvingrove area of the city and is set to continue until mid May.

Road and parking restrictions are in place to accommodate filming in Glasgow city centre on streets such as West George Lane, West Nile Street, St Mary's Lane and St Mary's Court on Friday of this week (April 8).

A letter sent to businesses and residents in the city centre, seen by Glasgow Live, confirms that filming will involve 'chase stunt sequences, action vehicle movements, a simulated crash and the use of replica weapons'.

Film crews have advised that pedestrian access to all local residencies and businesses will be maintained, but that, due to the nature of scenes involved they may ask people to wait at their set perimeters until the action is complete.

Borderland is directed by Tom and Charlie Guard - who rose to fame with 2009 horror flick The Uninvited, and also stars Jack Reynor (Midsommar) and Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim).
