Borderlands is no stranger to limited-time seasonal celebrations, and Borderlands 4's Halloween event, Horrors of Kairos, dials up the spookiness and gives you the opportunity to earn some terrifying treats. If you've experienced previous Halloween events in the series, then it'll come as no surprise that you can get a haunting new head—this time a pumpkin.
Horrors of Kairos is also handing out new guns and a grenade that you'll want to track down, at least for the sake of completing your collection. This event also brings a new seasonal weather variant that "rains down blood", but it's not nearly as spooky as it sounds.
Borderlands 4 Horrors of Kairos event dates
The Horror of Kairos Halloween event runs from Thursday, October 23, until Thursday, November 6, which coincides with the weekly update and patch notes (the first big balance patch, in fact). Plus, it's completely free for all players.
During this time, there'll be a brand-new weather variant that gives the sky an orange/red glow during Rift Champion world events.
Borderlands 4 Horrors of Kairos rewards
The main draw of the Halloween event is undoubtedly the rewards, and there's plenty to grab. While you've got a chance to earn the legendary loot from Rift Champion world boss kills (specifically, the reward boxes sent to your inventory), the cosmetic items are actually from Shift codes that we'll add once they've been released.
Unfortunately, these legendary gear pieces aren't very strong. While the Murmur sounds like a perfect match for an indirect projectile Rafa build in particular, thanks to both Tediore weapons and critical hits playing into this setup, it's just not that powerful. And if you don't like Tediore weapons, I doubt the Murmur will change that. The Skully grenade, on the other hand, is plain ol' terrible, so much so that it could be bugged.

Best Borderlands 4 Horrors of Kairos farm
The best Horrors of Kairos Halloween event farm is to kill the Battle Wagon in The Lowering March Ripper drill site in Stoneblood Forest, Terminus Range, and then check for any nearby Rift Champion world event spawns.
This is because the Battle Wagon is the weekly Big Encore boss, so it has a chance for amped-up rewards, and it's near several Rift Champion world boss spawns. Every time you kill a boss, like Battle Wagon, it refreshes the timer on Rift Champions, so there's a good chance you'll have one active after every few attempts.
Do this on repeat for as long as you want, just remember that the Murmur and Skully won't drop from the Rift Champion itself, but from the reward box that'll be sent to your inventory.
