Border Gavaskar Trophy: Virat Kohli backed by former selector to come good in Australia

NEW DELHI: Former cricket player MSK Prasad predicted that veteran batsman Virat Kohli would return to his best form during the India-Australia Border Gavaskar Trophy series.

In five Test matches and ten innings in 2024, Virat has amassed 245 runs at an average of 27.22, with a single fifty and a highest score of 70.

Speaking at the "Follow the Blues" show, the former BCCI selector asserted that Kohli loves the batting conditions in Australia

"Virat Kohli is like a duck getting into the water when he goes to Australia. He loves these conditions and probably he must be eagerly itching to just finish off this Wankhede Test match and then go and play in Australia because he loves that," MSK Prasad said on Star Sports.

Virat has, however, been comparatively reliable in the current ICC World Test Championship 2023-25. In eight Test matches, he has amassed 556 runs at an average of 42.76, including three fifties and a century in 14 innings, with a top score of 121.

With only two hundreds and nine fifties in 58 innings and a top score of 186, Virat the Test batsman has had a rough decade in the 2020s, amassing 1,833 runs at an average of 32.73 in 33 Test matches.
