Tom Homan, the Trump administration's border czar, defended the actions of ICE agents on the same day a woman was fatally shot in Minneapolis.

Speaking to CBS News, Homan said he has not "seen ICE act out outside of policy." "If they are acting outside of policy, I'm not aware of it. There'll be an investigation. They'll be held accountable," he added.

The comment took place on the same day as a 37-year-old woman was fatally shot by an ICE officer in Minneapolis. After being shown images of the incident, Homan said he wouldn't comment on it due to there being an active investigation.

"I'm not going to make a judgment call on one video when there's a hundred videos out there, I wasn't on the scene. I'm not an officer that may have body cam video," Homan said.

"It would be unprofessional to comment on what I think happened in that situation. Let the investigation play out and hold people accountable based on the investigation," he added.

In contrast, Democrats have expressed willingness to force a government shutdown to enforce changes. "We can't just keep authorizing money for these illegal killers. That's what they are, this rogue force," said Rep. Pramila Jayapal.

Rep. Ro Khanna, on his end, said the agent who shot Renee Nicole Good should be arrested. "And we should be opposing the hundreds of billions of dollars going to a lawless agency."

Some Republicans, however, are defending the actions of ICE. House Majority Whip Tom Emmer said "our brave ICE agents put their lives on the line every day to protect our communities from dangerous criminals."

DHS assistant secretary Tricia McLaughlin, on her end, said "an ICE officer, fearing for his life, the lives of his fellow law enforcement and the safety of the public, fired defensive shots." She added that the woman "weaponized her vehicle" and sought to "run over our law enforcement officers in an attempt to kill them."

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey disputed the claim, saying he saw the video and "I want to tell everybody directly that is b---s---." Witnesses told NBC News that they saw the woman trying to flee officers when she was shot.
