Border crisis escalates as DHS releases majority of migrants: officials

DHS Secretary Mayorkas allegedly said over 85% of migrants at the border are released.

In a recent development regarding border control, sources have revealed that over 85% of migrants attempting to cross the border are being released into the United States. This data was reportedly shared by Department of Homeland Security (DHS) secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, who made the statement in response to a question posed to him last week. Border Patrol sources have further indicated that currently more than 70% of migrants crossing the border are being released each day, with some days witnessing an even higher percentage.

The revelation has sparked concerns regarding the immigration situation at the border, with critics pointing out the discrepancy between Mayorkas' statement and the actual figures provided by border patrol agents. Congressman John James, who recently visited the southern border, spoke about the issue, accusing Mayorkas of dishonesty and bemoaning the lack of transparency in the current administration. He highlighted the potential dangers posed by this significant number of migrants being released into the country, as the authorities have limited information about their identities and motives.

Congressman James also drew attention to the fact that this is not solely a regional issue, as individuals from various parts of the world are attempting to cross the border. With ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and global turmoil, Congressman James argued that the open border policy under the Biden administration is a cause for concern. He compared the situation to a perpetual state of emergency, where every day in America feels like September 10th—an allusion to the heightened security measures following the 9/11 attacks.

In addition to the border control controversy, concerns have arisen regarding the recent hospitalization of Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, who secretly sought medical care. While the White House has stated that President Biden has no plans to dismiss Secretary Austin, Congressman James expressed his worry over the chain of command and the overall health of the defense establishment. He emphasized the importance of the military's duty to safeguard the nation and urged a refocus on national security rather than what he referred to as a 'woke agenda.'

The incidents surrounding the border crisis and the health of Secretary Austin have contributed to growing criticism of the Biden administration's leadership and decision-making. As the issues persist, calls for change and a reassessment of policies and priorities have become more prominent within certain spheres. Ultimately, these concerns may play a role in shaping public opinion and affecting future electoral outcomes.
