Border Biscuits has secured a UK-wide retail listing with Morrisons supermarkets after £1 million of investment increased capacity at its Lanark factory.
The independent food firm can now produce a run rate of up to 500 chocolate biscuit bars a minute, which enables it to supply its new Dark Chocolate Ginger Bars to 182 Morrisons stores.
The product is the business’ first move into the snack bar category. In the last 12 months, Border Biscuits has recorded more than £5million of sales of its Dark Chocolate Ginger.
Managing director John Cunningham said: “With in-home snacking having increased by 50% during lockdown, we hope that consumers will enjoy discovering their favourite biscuit in its new snack bar format.
