Bordeaux boss sends Laurent Koscielny transfer message to Arsenal

Bordeaux boss Paolo Sousa has confirmed the Ligue 1 side's interest in Laurent Koscielny - but cooled talk of an imminent move.

Koscielny is almost certain to leave Arsenal this summer after refusing to travel to the USA for the Gunners' pre-season tour.

The 33-year-old is keen to return to his native France and has agreed personal terms with Rennes ahead of a potential switch.

But he has one year left on his contract in north London and the Emirates hierarchy are holding out for a fee for the Frenchman,

And Sousa says "every team" would like to sign the centre-back.

"I have already said it, he is not our player," said the former Swansea boss.

"He is a player that every team would like to have because of his experience, the quality of his play and everything that he represents in football.

"We are in the market for central defenders because Jules Kounde has left and so we are looking for another player to replace him.

"All talks are ongoing but once again he is not our player.

"We are working hard to give ourselves the chance to have a player with his characteristics."

Arsenal were furious with club captain Koscielny for refusing to travel and released an official statement upon their departure for the States.

It read: "We are very disappointed by Laurent’s actions, which are against our clear instructions.

"Laurent Koscielny has refused to travel to the US for our pre-season tour.

"We hope to resolve this matter and will not be providing any further comment at this time."
