Bord Gais Energy is the latest company to announce price hikes - with over 300,000 gas and 350,000 electricity customers set to be hit this winter.
The gas price change will increase a typical gas bill by €8.16 per month.
The change in electricity prices will mean an increase of €10.26 per month on the typical bill.
The changes will take effect from October 24 2021 and the company has guaranteed to hold these prices until spring 2022.
Dave Kirwan, the firm's managing director, said: “We are experiencing an extremely uncertain energy market right now and we know our customers are concerned about that.
"We regret that we have to pass through a price increase at this time, but we have taken steps to protect our customers against further movement during the colder winter months ahead. Today we confirmed a unique guarantee to hold these prices until spring 2022."
There have been around 30 price hike announcements from Irish energy suppliers since the start of the year. And some suppliers have raised prices four times.
Commenting on the news, Daragh Cassidy, head of communications at bonkers.ie, said: “Today’s news was almost inevitable given all the recent price increases that we’ve seen. This is Bord Gáis’s third electricity price increase and its second gas increase so far this year.
“As we move into the darker and colder months when energy demand typically soars, many households will feel the pinch.”
